WINFIELD, WV - Putnam County will continue paying $48.50 per inmate each day in the Western Regional Jail while it awaits a possible appeal of a ruling that set the rate lower.

A Cabell County Circuit Court judge has set the rate at $40.42 per day.

But commissioners Tuesday agreed to keep paying the higher rate because jail officials may appeal the rate.
