GULFPORT, MS - Harrison County supervisors say they will go back to lawmakers in January to seek approval to allow a private company to run the jail. The county faces a wrongful-death lawsuit filed by the estate of Jessie Lee Williams Jr., who died after being beaten Feb. 4 in the jail's booking area. Another inmate also was allegedly severely beaten in the jail before that incident. On Monday, supervisors voted to seek proposals from private corrections-management firms.
