LANSING, MI - A former youth prison in Baldwin would be allowed to house a wide range of prisoners - including those from out-of-state - under legislation passed Wednesday by the state House and headed to Gov. Jennifer Granholm. The prison also could be used for a Michigan prison population, county prisoners or federal detainees. The bill already has passed the Senate. Granholm has been supportive of the bill and is expected to sign it, spokeswoman Liz Boyd said.
