| Room and board charges at jail? |

LA SALLE, IL - Future La Salle County inmates may not just be collecting their personal belongings upon discharge. They may also be handed a bill for their stay at the jail. While no agreement is in place, La Salle County board members are considering starting a program that would charge those who are incarcerated and convicted for room and board at the jail. If such a program comes to fruition, it would be up to the board and sheriff to determine what they want to charge. The idea surfaced more than a year ago amongst board members, and Wednesday, they took the next step by inviting a representative from an Ohio-based company that specializes in "pay-for-stay" programs at jails to discuss program details.
