MUSKEGON, MI - A pair of Michigan prison inmates failed in a violent and spectacular escape attempt Thursday when the garbage truck they hijacked inside the Muskegon Correctional Facility smashed through one layer of fencing but got hung up on a second. One of the would-be escapees, 38-year-old Jeffrey Jowske, was hospitalized late Thursday as surgeons attempted to reattach an arm nearly severed on razor wire in the 8:30 a.m. incident, said Department of Corrections spokesman Russ Marlan.
