| County hoping voters will approve new jail |

GUNNISON COUNTY, CO - The Gunnison County Jail is so crowded that some inmates are sleeping in the courthouse. Voters turned down a tax increase for a new jail last year, but a new, more palatable proposal for a new jail on the November ballot was recently approved by the Gunnison County commissioners. Last year, voters were asked to approve a 20-year, $7.6 million bond, but it failed, interim county manager Marlene Crosby said.
