JESSUP, MD - Authorities said a correctional officer at the Jessup Correctional Institution was attacked by an inmate about 6:15 a.m. Tuesday as inmates were being taken to breakfast. The officer suffered stab wounds to the upper torso and was taken to a local hospital. The wounds are non-life-threatening. Officials arrested the inmate and recovered a homemade weapon.
