PENSACOLA, FL - More than 125 people rallied in downtown Pensacola on Monday, advocating the elimination of Tasers from U.S. jails. The sparking point for the local protest, organized by Movement for Change, were the deaths of two men -- Robert Boggon and Jerry Preyer -- in the Escambia County Jail after they were shot by Tasers, which immobilize through electrical shock. Boggon, 65, was found dead on Aug. 29, 2005, strapped to a restraint chair. He had been shot with a Taser several days earlier, although the medical examiner did not directly link its use to his death. Read more.
