LITTLE ROCK, AR - Pulaski County residents will decide Tuesday whether or not to approve a quarter cent sales tax for the jail. If passed, the money would open beds currently closed. Little Rock's Police Chief says this tax is essential because criminals know if they commit a crime they won't go to jail. Thursday afternoon Little Rock Police Chief Stuart Thomas took calls on the radio. The Chief admits he'd rather have officers protecting the streets rather than guarding criminals. Suggesting offenders are coming from outside the capitol city. The Chief says he doesn't want to cause panic in the streets, but wants residents to know he believes this is a critical issue for the community. Read more.
