TULSA, OK - A Tulsa County commissioner wants more information before deciding whether she supports a plan to reduce overcrowding in county jails. Oklahoma County Commissioner Brent Rinehart wants state inmates who are awaiting transfer from county jails to the state system to be sent to private prisons 72 hours after sentencing and that the prison be paid 43-dollars a day per inmate to house them. Tulsa County Commissioner Randi Miller says she's not sure whether it would cost more or less to send the inmates to private facilities. Read more.
