ADAMS COUNTY, IN - A joint effort between Adams Health Network (AHN) officials and the Adams County Jail to cut down on costs for treating inmates at the jail officially began this week. AHN Executive Director Marvin L. Board reported to the hospital's board of directors that the hospital has entered into an agreement with the Adams County Commissioners to provide a nurse practitioner to render services on site at the jail three days a week for up to five hours a week. The contract, which continues for the rest of this year and through 2007, is for $36,000 and includes the services of the nurse practitioner, a local physician who will supervise the program and review up to five percent of inmate charts generated at the jail from examinations, and standard prescriptions that are in the hospital's formulary.
