Inmates cite improvements

ATHENS, AL - Inmates in the AIDS unit at Limestone Correctional Facility say the food is better and medical help seems improved since the settlement of a suit over their medical care in June.

But some would like inmates to be able to provide hospice care to those dying in the unit, as they once did.

Eric Howard of Birmingham was one of five inmates in the unit who filed suit in 2002 against the state prison system and health care provider NaphCare. Read more.
