| Inmates win $150K for rights violations |

CONCORD, NH - A federal jury in Concord, New Hampshire has awarded 150-thousand dollars to two former inmates at the Hillsborough County jail in Manchester. The jury found the conditions in the jail's solitary confinement unit were so harsh that they "shock the conscience." Palacio Paladin, of Lowell, Massachusetts, and Richard West, of Manchester, were both being held before trial in 2002 when a correctional officer accused about two dozen inmates of trying to take him hostage.
