INDIANAPOLIS, IN - The INDOC appointed Mike Lloyd to oversee the Plainfield Re-entry and Education Facility (PREF). "Mike has spearheaded the development and implementation of innovative programs to facilitate the successful re-entry of offenders to communities throughout Indiana," Commissioner J. David Donahue says. "His commitment to re-entry makes him a great fit for managing the nation's first facility solely dedicated to preparing inmates for life after prison. He has been instrumental in building partnerships with other state programs and community agencies." As superintendent, Lloyd will manage day-to-day operations, strategic planning, budgeting and programs development. "Commissioner Donahue has been a pioneer in correctional management for Indiana, and it is great to be part of the DOC leadership team," says Lloyd. "I am excited to take on this new challenge and ensure that every offender at this facility has a chance to change in a positive environment." Most recently, Lloyd was responsible for the INDOC's new re-entry strategy. He helped bridge the gap between state and local human services agencies and organizations regarding medical issues, mental health concerns, homelessness, food stamps and community corrections. As a result of his outstanding efforts in re-entry, he received the Governor's Public Service Achievement Award in August 2006. Prior to joining the INDOC in April 2005, Lloyd was Deputy Director of Operations at Marion County Corrections. Lloyd earned a BS in Business Management and Human Resources management from Indiana University School of Business. |
