LA VILLA, TX - The electric fence around a private jail failed the night a former police officer facing drug charges and five alleged members of a violent drug gang escaped, the operator of the detention center said today. The jail remained in lockdown today and there had been "top-to-bottom shakedown" of inmates and staff at the East Hidalgo Detention Center, said Patrick LeBlanc, co-owner of LCS Corrections Services Inc., of Lafayette, La.
