EBENSBURG, PA - The Cambria County Prison was returning to normal Monday as authorities began a gradual lifting of the lockdown following the brutal beating of a guard and fatal shooting of an inmate Friday. Meanwhile, state police continued to investigate the shooting of inmate Torone “Tu” Dixon, 25, when he tried to stab the guard with a homemade shank. Dixon was facing capital punishment if convicted of first-degree murder in the slaying of an Altoona man near Blandburg over stolen drugs and money. His trial would have begun in January. Read more.
