QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA - Sex offenders in Queensland's prison system will no longer be sent to low security prison farms or granted leave from jail, under strict new measures set by the State Government. Corrective Services Minister Judy Spence announced the changes in response to allegations pedophiles from Palen Creek correctional facility, near the NSW/Queensland border, were allowed to work under low security near local schools. While there had been no reports of the Palen Creek prisoners committing offences while on release, the move was in the interest of public safety, she said. Read more.
