MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX - A Montgomery County jail inmate is back in custody after fleeing from a local hospital where he was receiving treatment last week. Authorities captured Adam Daniel Williams, 29, about 11 p.m. Wednesday in a wooded area south of the River Plantation subdivision in south Conroe. He was found in a tree about 30 feet above ground after leading police on a foot chase several hours earlier, said Montgomery County Sheriff's spokesman Lt. Dan Norris. Williams, of Cleveland, escaped from the Conroe Regional Medical Center around 3 a.m. Wednesday, wearing a robe and shorts, Norris said. Police spotted Williams about 3:30 p.m. walking on the railroad track north of the San Jacinto River, but lost him when he ran into the woods. Tracking dogs were called in to help find the suspect, along with a helicopter equipped with heat seeking technology used to guide police through thick brush to Williams, Norris said. Williams was clad in a long-sleeve camouflage shirt and blue jeans. Williams had been in custody at the hospital since Sept. 21. Police declined disclose why he was receiving treatment at the hospital. Authorities arrested Williams on Sept. 1 on outstanding warrants from Liberty County and possession of a firearm by a felon. |
