| Death row inmate dies of apparent heart attack |

SAN QUENTIN, CA - A death row inmate who was convicted of strangling and sodomizing a young boy died of an apparent heart attack, jail officials said Monday. Robert Jackson Thompson, 60, was convicted of killing 12-year-old Benjamin Brenneman in Anaheim in 1981. He had been at San Quentin State Prison since late 1983. Thompson was taken to a hospital at about 8 a.m. Saturday after complaining of chest pains, prison Lt. Eric Messick said.
