| Board wants in on inmate talks |

FULTON COUNTY, GA - The Board of Commissioners wants to enter discussions with Fulton County over a proposal to allow Fulton County inmates to be housed in the Clayton County jail. According to Chairman Eldrin Bell, the discussions have already begun between Sheriff Victor Hill and Fulton County Sheriff Myron Freeman. On Tuesday, Deputy Mike Maddox, who said he was speaking on behalf of Hill said, “It was a revenue base that could be brought in to help get the needed personnel at the Sheriff's Office, almost $4 million a year. All negotiations that have taken place were between Sheriff Hill and Sheriff Freeman.” Maddox expressed concern that the commission had entered negotiations. “Where the commission got into it, the sheriff's office is not real sure. He (Hill) didn't ask the commission to negotiate for him and we can do our own negotiations as far as Sheriff Hill is concerned,” Maddox said. Read more.
