QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA - Civil libertarians say Queensland politicians are giving in to populism on issues of sentencing in the judicial system. The Australian Council for Civil Liberties has backed a call by former Supreme Court judge and former Parole Board chairman Bill Carter for a corrections overhaul. Carter says Queensland politicians are overriding the system because they have become driven by popularism and the media on issues of sentencing. Read more.
