LA VILLA, TX - A privately run South Texas jail where six inmates escaped last month had too few officers and unlicensed COs, state inspection records show. The inmates remained on the run today from the East Hidalgo Detention Center. Five are alleged members of a drug gang and the other is a former police officer who was about to stand trial on drug smuggling charges.
