LUMPKIN, GA - Sgt. Mariana Thomas directed a visitor to stay put as a line of Immigration Customs Enforcement detainees entered a hallway from an outdoor recreation area at the Stewart Detention Center just east of Lumpkin. Thomas, in charge of visitation here, gave a tour Wednesday of the 297,550-square-foot center built and operated by Corrections Corporation of America of Nashville, Tenn., the largest builder-owner-operator of private prisons, jails and detention centers in the United States.
