Defendants facing felony charges now may enter their pleas in Saginaw County District Court instead of Circuit Court, a change law enforcement officials hope will reduce jail crowding. At the peak, 605 inmates stayed at the 513-bed facility in August. The jail population stood at 513 as of Thursday, said Sheriff Charles L. Brown. Read more.
