FRESNO, CA - The population of the Fresno County Jail stands at 3,433, 90% of capacity. There are no plans to release any inmates early but that could change overnight. The Fresno County Sheriff's staff inside the county jail is involved everyday in an elaborate game of chess, moving inmates, assessing inmates, and trying to keep the lid on more than 3,500 inmates. "We're managing a population and we're trying to manage the violence," said Captain Scott Jones of the Fresno Sheriff's Department. Read more.
