MECKLENBURG, NC - Five days after nine Mecklenburg jail inmates launched a hunger strike, officials say protests have dwindled to sporadic refusals of food. Inmates say they are protesting crowded conditions and extended waits for court dates. Only one person refused to eat in protest Saturday.
