| County jail accepts Philly inmates |

FREEHOLD, NJ - A contract to house inmates from Philadelphia at the Monmouth County Jail could generate more than $6 million in revenue annually to offset taxes, Freeholder Director William C. Barham has announced. The Board of Freeholders recently entered into a contract with the city to house up to 200 inmates at $90 a day per inmate. The jail in Freehold Township has accepted 100 inmates under terms of the contract and will take in more as space becomes available, Sheriff Joseph W. Oxley said. Read more.
