| FL agrees to pay more for health contract |

TALLAHASSEE, FL - The state has offered to pay $58 million more to a company that pulled out of a 10-year, $645 million prison health care contract signed earlier this year, claiming it was losing money on the deal. Corrections Department Secretary Jim McDonough agreed Monday to accept a $703 million bid from Prison Health Services for a new contract, but he also warned the Brentwood, Tenn.-based company that he planned to levy "significant fines" for service shortcomings under the original one.
