| Women's prison building under way |

CHILLICOTHE, MO - Gov. Matt Blunt and other officials had a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday for a new women's prison in Chillicothe that is more than three times larger than the old one. The current prison was built in 1887 and is among the oldest in the state. It can house up to 525 people, from minimum to maximum security, while the new facility will be able to hold 1,636.
