MA improves fire safety

SUFFOLK COUNTY, MA – This week, Suffolk County Sheriff's Department introduced new technology to monitor more than 175 fire extinguishers. Two of Suffolk County's facilities, the Suffolk County House of Correction and the Suffolk County Jail of Nashua, are now using en-Gauge technologies to keep track of their extinguishers.

“By installing the en-Gauge electronically monitored fire extinguishers we are enhancing the life safety of our inmates, staff, volunteers, visitors and other prison-related personnel,” Suffolk County Sheriff Andrea Cabral said in a statement. “en-Gauge will ensure that our fire extinguishers are always where they should be and ready for use in the event of a fire emergency,”

With the newest technology, any time a fire extinguisher is removed from its location, an alert is immediately sent to Central Operations, allowing officials to determine if there is, in fact, a fire emergency. en-Gauge technologies also monitor for the presence and pressure of each extinguisher to keep the department up-to-date on filling the devices. Additionally, en-Gauge offers updates on whether or not access to the extinguisher is being blocked.

According to Cabral, the technology is already working well. Central Operations was notified of a blocked extinguisher and officials quickly addressed the problem.

Monitoring extinguishers electronically is approved by the National Fire Protection Association, as well as the International Codes Council. Technologies like this mean that corrections officials and officers no longer have to manually check the extinguishers, as both of the organizations recognize electronic monitoring in place of 30-day checks.

Our truck accident lawyers have seen many causes of these accidents. They can often include an improper lane change, incorrect stopping distance, defective equipment, an inexperienced driver, an unqualified driver and road defects. Our team of trucking accident attorneys will investigate your accident with the help of experts to determine the most likely cause of your 18 wheeler accident. While you wait for the conclusion of your truck accident claim, your Waco trucking accident lawyer can work around the clock to address issues such as medical bills, calls from creditors, communications from insurance companies, and legal fees. Semi truck owners are required to carry more extensive insurance coverage, the trucks are subject to a strictly controlled maintenance schedule, and drivers are required to track and limit their time on the road. But many trucking companies pressure their drivers to drive without sleep to get to their destination. This creates fatigue for the truck driver.
