HOBART, AUSTRALIA - Industrial action by officers at Hobart's Risdon Prison has left minimum security inmates locked in their cells for almost 24 hours. Correctional officers and other staff members began their strike this morning. They said they had been "forced'' to take action as a result of severe understaffing of the new Risdon Prison complex opened earlier this year. Read more.
