| Moore Named Pennsylvania Corrections Deputy Secretary |

CAMP HILL, PA - Twenty-year corrections veteran Shirley R. Moore has been appointed deputy secretary for the PADOC's eastern region, which includes facilities in Dauphin, Delaware, Northumberland, Luzerne, Schuylkill, Montgomery, Huntingdon, Lycoming, Centre and Wayne counties. She will oversee security, personnel, training, housing, medical care, treatment programs, maintenance and safety for 13 state correctional facilities. "Shirley Moore is an asset to the Department of Corrections. She is a dedicated professional who is highly knowledgeable about many aspects of this agency," says PADOC Secretary Jeffrey A. Beard, Ph.D. "Her experience has helped make her a well-rounded corrections professional, and I have every confidence that she will continue to serve the citizens of this commonwealth very well in her new capacity." Moore began her career in 1987 at SCI Huntingdon and then worked at SCI Smithfield, SCI Albion and SCI Camp Hill. She became executive assistant to the secretary of corrections in 2001, which was followed by her becoming superintendent of SCI Muncy in August 2003. She is an U.S. Air Force veteran and holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Edinboro University. Moore also is a member of the American Correctional Association and the Pennsylvania Prison Wardens Association. |
