The California Department of Corrections reported an inmate disturbance Sunday night involving up to 100 inmates at the Victor Valley Medium Community Correctional Facility in Adelanto.
The disturbance was brought under control within a few hours, department Capt. Dave Long said.
A number of inmates who were injured during the disturbance were transported by ambulance to Desert Valley Hospital, an emergency room worker there said. The number and extent of injuries is not known, authorities reported.
The facility holds 550 inmates, most of whom are in for drug treatment or are at the end of their sentences. The facility opened in 1998, and is run by Maranatha Private Corrections.
