NOBLESVILLE, IN - The Hamilton County Council has approved a $43 million expansion of the jail complex, the last hurdle Sheriff Doug Carter needed to get past for his 10-month-old plan to become a reality. Carter proposed the plan in February, although he said county officials tasked him to maximize space at the Cumberland Road complex just after he took office in January 2003. Read more.
