OKLAHOMA CITY, OK - The Oklahoma Sentencing Commission approved recommendations Thursday intended to reduce the state's burgeoning prison population. The commission asked the state Legislature to consider limiting the length of time people are sentenced for committing a technical violation of their probation or parole to two years. The commission also recommended giving judges the option to impose a sentence less than the life without parole now required for drug traffickers who have two prior drug offenses. Read more.
