Six officers injured

TUSCON, AZ - Six correctional officers were said to be injured this afternoon when a violent prisoner burst into a prison program office and began beating officers at the state prison complex on South Wilmot Road.

One officer sustained a non-life threatening injury - a cut on her forehead - but was taken to a Tucson hospital, where she was expected to be treated and released, said Katie Decker, a state Department of Corrections spokeswoman. The other five officers sustained minor injuries and did not require hospitalization, Decker said. Read more.
