| Edwards, Peeples named Deputy Commissioners |

Alaska Department of Corrections Commissioner Joe Schmidt recently selected two new deputy commissioners. Dwayne Peeples, of Juneau, will become Deputy Commissioner for Administrative Services, and Sam Edwards of Wasilla will be Deputy Commissioner for Operations. “We're not naming individuals, we're naming a team,” Schmidt said. “For example, Dwayne and Sam will be working together on population management and the prison expansion project.” Peeples, recently retired as a health care services director for the Department of Health and Social Services. He will serve as legislative liaison and oversee administrative services, recruitment and inmate health care. Previously, Peeples was an AKDOC director of administrative services. He holds a degree in Public Administration from Seattle University. Edwards is an AKDOC veteran and will oversee all facilities and probation/parole field offices. |
