The Justice Department's Office of Justice Programs (OJP) has launched the Tribal Justice and Safety website to serve as a resource for American Indian and Alaska Native tribal governments and communities. It will also help the general public and other federal agencies better understand the resources available for improving safety in Native American communities. Tribal Justice and Safety is a single source of information about courts, corrections, law enforcement, crime statistics, crime prevention, legal and other public safety issues. It also is a resource for tribal communities to solicit information about how the OJP can meet their informational, training and funding needs. OJP provides federal leadership in developing the nation's capacity to prevent and control crime, administer justice, and assist victims. It is comprised of the Bureau of Justice Assistance; the Bureau of Justice Statistics; the National Institute of Justice; the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention; the Office for Victims of Crime, and the Community Capacity Development Office, which incorporates the Weed and Seed strategy and OJP's American Indian and Alaska Native Affairs Desk. For more information, visit the OJP website . |
