TRENTON, NJ - A long and tortured saga is expected to culminate before the state Senate today, when Gov. Corzine's nominee to head the Department of Corrections, a vast and sometimes secretive bureaucracy, comes up for final confirmation. Sen. John Adler, D-Camden, who is chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, which took a stop-and-go approach before approving the nominee, predicted smooth voyaging in the Senate for acting Corrections Commissioner George Hayman.
