DES MOINES, IA - Iowa's prison system would add space for more than 1,500 inmates at three state prisons, including the Iowa State Penitentiary, under a preliminary report from a consultant. Mike Lewis of The Durrant Group recommends the replacement of key buildings at the Iowa State Penitentiary at Fort Madison, a finding that will help determine whether to renovate or replace the prison.
