| ME jails turn to state for help |

BANGOR, ME - Jails in Maine are overcrowded. County Commissioners are struggling to find places to put prisoners. Now they're turning to the Legislature for an answer. Several proposals are in the State House to decide who should cover the cost of increased prisoners. The Somerset County Commissioners Office wants the State to pay for long-term prisoners that once would have been housed in State Prisons. Read more.
