SARASOTA COUNTY, FL - With an average daily jail population of approximately 963 inmates and a capacity for 1,050, Sarasota County is facing the reality of having to construct a new jail that could cost more than $50 million. But before Sarasota County commissioners contract with a consultant to find a site and design the new jail, they want to discuss teaming up with Manatee and DeSoto counties to build a regional facility.
