BROWNSVILLE, TX - Cameron County has taken down a tent jail erected to hold overflow nonviolent inmates as the Texas Commission on Jail Standards said the county's tent plan was never approved. The sheriff's department began constructing the tent in mid-December to be opened in time for a possible influx of inmates during holiday season. Read more.
