0207career 01 Indianapolis, IN – INDOC Commissioner, J. David Donahue, appointed Cecil K. Davis Deputy Commissioner of Operations after Edward Motley retired from the position last December. Davis will begin his new position February 26, 2007. Previously, he oversaw facility operations superintendents as the INDOC's northern regional director.

“Mr. Davis has demonstrated his leadership ability and his commitment to public safety and the department,” says Donahue in a statement. “Cecil is an enthusiastic, accomplished correctional professional with executive management level experience in correctional facility security best practices.”

Davis began his career in 1981 as an INDOC CO and then served as a superintendent for the South Bend Juvenile Correctional Facility, Camp Summit and the Indiana State Prison.

“I am grateful to Commissioner Donahue for this opportunity and look forward to my new role,” Davis says. “I will strive to continue to improve the agency and will diligently work to improve safety and security in all 32 Indiana state prisons.”

The INDOC has more than 8,000 employees and houses approximately 24,000 adult and juvenile offenders in 32 facilities, which range from minimum and maximum custody and prison camps to juvenile facilities and work release centers.
