LANSING, MI - The death of Timothy Souders and other prisoners under the care of the Michigan Department of Corrections is inexcusable. With the belt-tightening that will be taking place in the upcoming state budget, and Corrections in the bull's-eye of Gov. Jennifer Granholm, will the state magnify the problems of mental health care if resources are cut within the department? The Department of Corrections seems to be sliding into a dysfunctional institution that needs overhaul, starting at the top. Read more.
