FRESNO, CA - Pregnant women and mothers convicted of nonviolent crimes may be able to avoid state prison through an alternative program that lets them raise their children while undergoing counseling and job training. After stalling for more than eight years because demand was low, a facility called The Fresno Family Foundation plans to open this summer for up to 35 inmates. Read more.
