Corrections head to retire

TOPEKA, KS - A change at the top of the Shawnee County Department of Corrections. Director Elizabeth Gillespie announced Tuesday that she's leaving for a job in Johnson County.

Gillespie's spent six and a half years in her position in Topeka. In Johnson County, she'll head up community corrections programs for juveniles and adults. Gillespie says she's excited for an opportunity in a different area. She says working to change behaviors and keep offenders out of jails and prisons is very important. Read more.
