| COs will wear stab-proof vests |

MERCED COUNTY, CA - Beginning next month, stab-proof vests will be standard equipment for all correctional officers working in Merced County jails. Merced County Sheriff Mark Pazin said all officers who work at the county's downtown jail and at the John Latorraca Correctional Facility on Sandy Mush Road have been fitted for the vests.
