LEXINGTON, KY - The Kentucky Senate yesterday debated a bill that would require state prisoners to be tested for the virus that causes AIDS but sent it back to committee after declaring it out of order. Senate Bill 201 would require that state prison inmates be tested for HIV -- human immunodeficiency virus -- shortly before they are released, and that spouses be notified of the results. An amendment would extend the measure to cover state inmates in county jails. The total cost of the measure would be $275,275. Read more.
