| MD transfers inmates to ECI |

WESTOVER, MD - An undisclosed number of inmates were transferred from the now defunct Maryland House of Corrections in Jessup to Eastern Correctional Institution, a spokesman from the Maryland Department of Corrections and Public Safety said Wednesday. The inmates were transported over a two-week period in buses and vans, said George Gregory, spokesman for the department. The Maryland House of Corrections, one of two maximum security prisons in the state, had medium-security inmates which it dispersed to medium-security-level prisons with available beds, including ECI.
